Hardtail Bikes

A hardtail mountain bike has front suspension only, with a rigid rear end. That makes it lighter, more efficient to pedal and lower maintenance than a dual suspension bike, which is why it's the default choice for cross-country riding and a great option for anyone new to mountain biking.

Hardtail or dual suspension?

Choose a hardtail if you mostly ride smoother trails, fire roads or all-day XC loops and want to keep weight and cost down. If your local trails are rough, rocky or built for descending, a dual suspension bike will be more comfortable and controlled. Prefer pedal assist? See our electric mountain bikes.
